Dinotrace is a graphical signal waveform tracing tool for logic design traces for GNU/Linux-X11 that supports traces in the form of Verilog Value Change Dump (VCD files, like GTKWave, e.g. generated by Ghdl or iverilog), ASCII, Verilator, Tempest CCLI, COSMOS, Chango and Decsim Binary. It includes, and allows, placing cursors, highlighting signals, searching, printing, color highlighting and a special interface to the .el file that allows signal information to be annotated into source code using Emacs (both Emacs and Dinotrace can share the same colour to represent signals). Verilog-mode provides designer with context-sensitive highlighting, auto indenting, and macro expansion capabilities to greatly reduce Verilog coding time. It also prevents additional human errors while coding. Dinotrace is, also, optimized for rapid debugging. With a simple script (vtrace), a simulation failure will automatically place cursors where errors occur, add comments visible in the wave form viewer. Four mouse clicks and the errors will be highlighted in the log files, and the values of signals at the error will be seen in the source. Dinotrace has a "classic" look and has not received a lot of new changes recently. However it is still in very wide use because it is very solid, and has all of the important features needed for everyday use. For more information click here.
