Tuesday, 13 October 2009 20:02

ADDI-DATA GmbH is a reliable partner for innovative industrial measurement and automation in numerous industrial areas: automotive and metal industry, engine building industry, tailor-made machinery, aircraft and chemicals industry and so onADDI-DATA-APCI1710 a multifunction counter boardADDI-DATA GmbH is a reliable partner for innovative industrial measurement and automation in numerous industrial areas: automotive and metal industry, engine building industry, tailor-made machinery, aircraft and chemicals industry, etc. They are used for quality control, process control, signal switching, data acquisition, motion control or position acquisition. It offers a wide range of PCI boards, which are especially designed for the reliable use in harsh industrial environments. The measurement boards are equipped with a lot of protective features, such as protection against short circuits and overvoltage, optical isolation, input and output filters, etc. Numerous drivers for GNU/Linux operating system as well as samples are included in the section Download. Some features are;

  • Digital I/O, 24 V;
  • Analog I/O, multifunction boards;
  • Counter boards: incremental counter, SSI synchronous serial interface, counter/timer, pulse acquisition, frequency , pulse width , period duration, velocity measurement, PWM, BiSS-Master, digital inputs and outputs and so on!
  • Serial interfaces;
  • Motion control boards.

Protective measures:

  • Optical isolation from 500 V to 1000 V;
  • Separation between analog and digital signals;
  • Protection against short-circuits, overtemperature and overvoltage;
  • Input and output filters;
  • Industry-standard SUB-D connectors.
The product range is:
  • Interference-free PC boards (PCI, PCI Express, PC/104-PLUS, CompactPCI bus);
  • Real-time open source PAC system MSX-Box;
  • Intelligent Ethernet I/O modules.
For more information about products of ADDI-DATA, click here. NOTE: support for ADDI-DATA' boards are actively developed in the current version of the Linux kernel. Models currently supported/developed are APCI1710, APCI1032, APCI1516, APCI1564, APCI2016 and so on. This driver are on the path linux-<version 2.6.xx.yy>/drivers/staging/comedi/drivers/addi-data added to the staging/ directory which means they're not just experimental, but also totally unstable and not suited at all for users.

DMX4linux - DMX 512 theatrical lighting control E-mail
Sunday, 17 May 2009 13:57
DMX4Linux a DMX device driver package for GNU/LinuxDMX-512 is a standard digital protocol for controlling theatrical lighting equipment, including dimmers and moving lights. It uses RS-485 differential signaling and is generally wired using two shielded twisted pairs terminated on a 5-pin XLR connector. DMX4linux is a driver package for accessing DMX512 interfaces with GNU/Linux. It gives you access to a wide range of DMX interfaces with the GNU/Linux operating system; many commercial and free interfaces are supported (see Misc and Hardware sections). There is, also, an userspace driver and application to control DMX-512 devices through Velleman's K8062 kit under GNU/Linux.

EDT Inc specializes in high-speed interface products that link devices such as digital cameras, high-resolution scanners, simulation systems, test systems, and telemetry receivers to almost any computerPCI 16DEDT Inc. (Engineering Design Team - EDT) specializes in high-speed interface products that link devices such as digital cameras, high-resolution scanners, simulation systems, test systems, and telemetry receivers to almost any computer. EDT manufactures a broad line of industrial digital camera interfaces and long range extension systems, supporting Camera Link, RS-422, and LVDS digital image output formats etc on a wide variety of platforms particularly GNU/Linux;

  • Package PDV supports all digital video boards; driver for Camera-Link interface (an interface protocol that includes standardized interconnects between cameras and framegrabbers) for PCI and PCI express, High-speed Interfaces for AIA format, e.g. PCIe8DV C-Link, PCIe4 DV C-Link, PCI DV C-Link and so on (supporting a wide variety of cameras);
  • Package PCD for configurable DMA interface, high-speed DMA and data processing interface, Synchronous serial ECL interface, Synchronous Serial Interface and so on like PCI CDa, PCI SS etc;
  • Package P53B for the PCI 53B (onboard SPARC processor) that provides a complete single slot MIL-STD 1553B interface for PCI bus computers;
  • Package P11W for the PCI 11W board a high speed single slot parallel interface for PCI bus computers. The parallel interface conforms to the Digital Equipment Corp. DR11W. This interface is used for computer to computer or computer to device connection where speed is essential. The PCI 11W will supports 8 Megabyte per second transfers. Typical applications include graphics displays, A-D and D-A converters, disk drives, and telemetry and control systems;
  • Package P16D for the PCI 16D board general purpose, high speed, 16 bit I/O interface (image in this article); it may be used to enable the transfer of data to or from the host computer. Typical applications include A-D and D-A converters, telemetry systems, and video systems. The PCI 16D will support 10 megabyte per second transfers.
NOTE: At the moment Real Time Linux is "semi-supported" only on RTLinux.
