DMX-512 is a standard digital protocol for controlling theatrical lighting equipment, including dimmers and moving lights. It uses RS-485 differential signaling and is generally wired using two shielded twisted pairs terminated on a 5-pin XLR connector. DMX4linux is a driver package for accessing DMX512 interfaces with GNU/Linux. It gives you access to a wide range of DMX interfaces with the GNU/Linux operating system; many commercial and free interfaces are supported (see Misc and Hardware sections). There is, also, an userspace driver and application to control DMX-512 devices through Velleman's K8062 kit under GNU/Linux. |
