The MPLAB X IDE is the new graphical, integrated debugging tool set for all of Microchip's (8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit MCUs and digital signal controllers, and memory devices). Based on the open-source NetBeans platform supports many third-party tools, and is compatible with many NetBeans plug-ins. Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is an application that has multiple functions for software development. MPLAB X IDE a program that integrates a compiler, an assembler, a project manager, a feature-rich editor, source-level debugger, project manager, software simulator and an assortment of other tools. It, also, supports Microchip's popular hardware tools, such as the MPLAB ICD 3 in-circuit debugger, PICkit 3, and MPLAB PM3 programmer. MPLAB X is not a new version of MPLAB IDE v8 framework but is instead based on open-source NetBeans platform. In addition to its predecessor's functionalities and compatibility with Microchip's existing development tools, the new IDE utilises many NetBeans features allowing for user-interface improvements and performance upgrades.
