Gputils - Tools for the PIC microcontroller on GNU/Linux E-mail
Monday, 16 March 2009 14:29
Gputils is a collection of tools for the Microchip (TM) PIC microcontrollers. It includes gpasm, gplink, and gplib. Each tool is intended to be an open source replacement for a corresponding Microchip (TM) tool; It's distributed under the terms of the GNU Public License. Gputils includes;
  • gpasm is an assembler for Microchip (TM) PIC (TM) micro-controllers. It's intended to be compatible with the manufacturer's MPASM assembler. Tool gpasm normally run in a terminal, so there is a simple GUI (front-end) like xgpasm;
  • gplink relocates and links gpasm COFF objects and generates an absolute executable COFF;
  • gplib creates, modifies and extracts COFF archives. This allows a related group of objects to be combined into one file. Then this one file is passed to gplink;
  • gpdasm is a disassembler for gputils. It converts hex files generated by gpasm and gplink into disassembled instructions;
  • gpstrip manipulates the sections and symbol tables of gputils object files;
  • gpvc is cod file viewer for gputils. It provides an easy way to view the contents of the cod files generated by gpasm and gplink;
  • gpvo is COFF object file viewer for gputils. It provides an easy way to view the contents of objects generated by gpasm and gplink.
Gputils currently supports all processors supported by MPLAB 8.20 (except eeprom16 and related devices) and it's used also from Piklab. Gputils is distributed under the terms of the GNU GPL license. For more information click here.
